Otis selects EVCo to convert its Singapore service fleet to electric vehicles
An initial group of vehicles have been converted to Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Otis Singapore plans to convert its full fleet to electric vehicles by 2024.
As part of its global Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals, Otis has committed to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 50% globally by 2030.
As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, Otis (NYSE: OTIS), the world’s leading company for elevator and escalator manufacturing, installation, and service, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with EVCo to convert Otis fleet vehicles in Singapore to Electric Vehicles.
“As a manufacturer and service provider for building equipment and technology globally, Otis is always exploring ways to develop more sustainable solutions that the world needs,” said Grant Mooney, Managing Director, Otis Southeast Asia. “These electric vehicles will provide a more sustainable way for our service professionals to get to and from customer sites as they keep passengers on the move. It is our honor to work with EVCo, a pioneer in end-to-end electric- Mobility-as-a-Service solutions, because they share our vision for a more sustainable future through greener technology.”
To date, an initial group of vehicles under Otis subsidiary brands Sigma and 9G have been converted to EVs. Otis Singapore plans to convert its entire fleet to electric vehicles by 2024. Both parties will also work together to build a digital operations platform allowing users to achieve effective operations through route optimization and preventive maintenance of the vehicles.
“EVCo is committed to supporting customers with their vehicle electrification journey and decarbonization goals – from the assessment of fleet mobility needs and provision of cost-effective electric vehicles to the seamless integration of data-driven operating systems,” shared Fuji Foo, Managing Director, EVCo. “We are delighted to collaborate with Otis as we contribute to a greener and more sustainable land transport sector in Singapore.”
Under the agreement, both parties will also work together to build a digital operations platform allowing users to utilize data and achieve effective operations through route optimization and preventive maintenance of the vehicles.
In addition, to demonstrate its support for Singapore’s Electric Vehicle Campaign ‘Power EVery Move’, Otis has included the campaign logo on its fleet of vehicles. Launched by the Land Transport Authority in 2022, the EV campaign aims to support Singapore’s 2030 Green Plan by raising awareness of EVs and their benefits to owners and the environment, and how we can adopt responsible and gracious sharing practices of charging infrastructure.
This effort in Singapore is part of a global initiative by Otis to reduce emissions from its fleet, and joins similar projects in Europe and North America. In addition to integrating electric and hybrid vehicles into its fleet, Otis is committed to various initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint as part of the company’s global ESG goals. These include Environment & Impact goals to:
- Reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50% by 2030
- Reach carbon neutrality for factory electricity by 2030
- Achieve 100% factory eligibility for zero-waste-to-landfill certification by 2025
- Achieve ISO 14001 certification for all factories by 2025, which has been accomplished
Otis also aims to reduce the lifecycle environmental impacts of our products through innovation. Our Gen2 elevator, now standard with the ReGen drive, is up to 75% more efficient than conventional systems without regenerative drives.
