Did you know that in some legal systems, when it comes to proving adultery, lawyers have to appeal to a judge, who then has to appoint a bailiff? Bailiffs are typically responsible for performing some of the less “noble” tasks involved in the law, such as taking incriminating photos to gather evidence and confronting the accused. A typical day might see them sitting outside an accused persons’ home at 6am, accompanied by police officers, with the latter responsible for breaking down the door to gain entry so that the accused can be arrested or have their house searched. Some bailiffs even specialise in this kind of process.
