Fun fact

Ever heard of the tourniquet technique? Used since ancient times in emergency medicine, it’s a technique designed to stop bleeding. In 1785, Sir Gilbert Blane, a Scottish doctor, promoted the idea that every sailor in the Royal Navy should be equipped with a tourniquet before going into battle. In his view, such a simple precaution could save many lives – and he was right!
