“Lab-grown meat” was once reserved for science fiction novels, but will soon be a regular feature on our plates. The first lab-grown burger was unveiled in 2013 and cost $280,000 to produce. These days, a number of startups are claiming they could soon be selling similar burgers for around $10 a go. Some say that by 2040, 60% of meat consumed globally could either be lab-grown or a plant-based substitute.
