Process engineer

Ever heard of the “lean” approach? It’s a waste-free, optimised management style, and it’s one that process engineers use to question everything, turning our habits upside down and back to front to make things better.

Fun fact

The “lean” school of management can trace its roots back to Japan. And that means there’s a whole new vocabulary to learn and master. The “Gemba Walk”, for example, refers to a workplace walkthrough by managers: going on site, meeting their employees, and questioning the methods already in place. But be careful before asking a Japanese person if you can accompany them on a gemba walk... in Japanese, the term gemba means “the real place”, which for manufacturers means the place where they create their products, and where their teams work, but for detectives, it’s the scene of the crime. And that wouldn’t be quite the same visit!
