Stage director

“Let’s try it again, but this time, I want to feel it from deep down inside!” That’s the director you can hear shouting over there, the person who oversees and coordinates putting together an artistic production, whether it’s a play, musical, street performance or opera.

Fun fact

A few tips before entering the world of theatre... Don’t whistle backstage. Stay away from peacock feathers. Don’t wear green on stage and NEVER say Macbeth, only “the Scottish play”. Oh, and be sure not to wish anyone “good luck” – theatre folk prefer “break a leg”. . This one comes from the olden days when carriages would bring audiences to the theatre. A quick look outside the venue would tell if the performance was a success, because the more carriages, the more people – and the more horses, the more... well, you get the idea. When we say “break a leg”, we’re referring to the moment an actor enters the stage and steps over the imaginary “leg line” separating the stage and backstage.
