Borealis Polymers Oy in Porvoo 

Borealis Polymers is the only polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene  (PP) manufacturer in Finland and our facilities are located in Kilpilahti industrial area in Porvoo, 40 km east of Helsinki. Our cracking plant, in Kilpilahti as well, produces raw materials to the polyolefin (PE and PP) plants. Together they form a fully integrated petrochemical complex comprising altogether six plants: a cracker for the production of olefins – ethylene and propylene- and butadiene, a phenol and aromatics plant, two plants for PE (one is a Borstar® plant based on Borealis own proprietary technology), one plant for PP and one compounding unit.

Innovation Centre in Porvoo concentrates on catalyst and process research and operates two pilot plants and large laboratory. It is one of the three Borealis Innovation Centres in Europe.

Borealis in Porvoo employs more than 900 people out of which approximately 120 in the Innovation Centre activities.
