Most people would agree that the name of a brand can affect how it’s perceived... and the stories behind brand names are often surprising. Adidas, for example, is named after the company’s founder, Adolf (“Adi”) Dassler. Ikea took the initials of its founder (Ingvar Kamprad), as well as the place he grew up (Elmtaryd Agunnaryd). As for Philadelphia cheese, it was actually invented in New York, and has never been produced in Philadelphia. But in the 1880s, this famous town in Pennsylvania was renowned for the quality of its dairy products, so... why not jump on the bandwagon!
