Ever heard of a “Kanban” board? Used in project management, they help you visualise how tasks are progressing over the course of a project, helping to improve efficiency and team visibility. The name Kanban comes from two Japanese words, “Kan” 看 meaning sign and “Ban” 板 meaning board. Its design is based on commercial signage from the 15th century used to attract the attention of passers-by. A Kanban illustrated with a picture of a fish, for example, meant there was a fishmonger’s nearby.
