    Mentoring Toolkit

Making contacts with legal practitioners can often seem daunting. However, there are many organisations that are specifically set up to support their members and potential members such as the Trainee Solicitors’ Group (TSG) and two main legal professional bodies themselves, the Law Society and the Bar Council. Contacts in these organisations can be treated as ‘warm leads’, as they will be used to approaches and requests for help. This handout details a variety of different professional bodies and support groups that you can tap into as well as ways to go about making your own contacts in the legal profession and networking to find those who can offer insight into the profession and practice area(s) that you're interested in. The organisations within offer their own mentoring schemes. It’s worth contacting your local group to see if they have any mentoring/support activities for students. Mentoring Toolkit 2021.pdf
