    Meet Jan Walter, Executive Assistant to the COO and Labour Director at METRO AG! 🚀 ‌ Jan's journey with METRO began almost four years ago as a participant in the METRO Potentials Programme. Since then, he has thrived, taking on new challenges, from store operations to the global headquarters. ‌ The METRO Potentials Programme played a crucial role in Jan's development, providing him with skills in project management, communication, and strategic thinking. The opportunity to work with colleagues in the store as well as international teams and strong mentorship support have been key to his success. ‌ In his current role, Jan supports the COO and various teams in his department, drives projects forward, and acts as a crucial link within the organization.     METRO Potentials Training Week Recap

    What an incredible two weeks of growth and learning at METRO! 🎓 In July, we welcomed our METRO Potentials Trainees to our headquarters in Düsseldorf for a two-week programme packed with insights into leadership skills, design thinking, innovation, and functional expertise. Week 1 was dedicated to transformative leadership workshops. Jin Chyung Keudel's "Working Across Cultures" equipped participants with essential cross-cultural skills for their international assignments. Val Sedounik's "Design Thinking" encouraged creative thinking and innovation. Eric Vautrin's "Leading Change" emphasized fostering a culture of innovation, managing resistance, and implementing strategic changes. During these sessions, trainees tackled real-life challenges faced by METRO countries, turning obstacles into opportunities. One of the highlights was a field trip to sipgate in Düsseldorf, where our trainees explored the company's innovative culture and product solutions. Week 2 shifted focus to functional skills. Dr. Marc Rößler (Roessler) and Christian Kramm provided deep insights into Finance, Jelena Vaslic delved into Assortment Building, and Diana Bratosin along with Nataliya Kovpak shared expertise on Own Brands. These sessions offered valuable strategic insights that participants can implement in their daily roles. The weeks were also rich with networking opportunities. Our trainees connected with top senior leaders including Guillaume Deruyter, Gautheron Nicolas, Herve Streifer, Bertrand Mothe, Sabrina Ley, Sangeeta Pandey, and Tomasz Kiewisz. At METRO, we are committed to talent development and fostering the growth of our future leaders.     The Ambassador Programme 2024

     Exciting News: The Ambassador Programme Expands to METRO Campus in Düsseldorf! 🚀 ‌ Following the successful launch of our previous Ambassador Programme for Young Talents, we are thrilled to extend it to our entire METRO Campus in Düsseldorf. Embracing the OneMETRO spirit, the entire campus is now united in this initiative. 🎉 ‌ We proudly welcome more than 50 Ambassadors from 8 entities: METRO AG, METRO.digital, METRO PROPERTIES, DISH Digital Solutions, METRO Campus Services, METRO Financial Services, METRO LOGISTICS, and METRO Markets GmbH. ‌ Our Ambassadors represent METRO, embodying our culture, values, and career opportunities. They provide authentic insights into their work lives through activities like LinkedIn posts, Instagram videos, participating in career events, and helping to onboard new colleagues. ‌ Our Ambassadors come from diverse areas such as People & Culture, Procurement, Customer Service, M&A, Food Service Distribution (FSD), Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and more. The program kicked off with a workshop on July 11th at the campus, followed by a total of 3 workshops on Corporate Influencing, Career Events, and Instagram.     Climate Neutrality by 2040

    At METRO, actions speak louder than words!  In 2021, we raised our climate target, aiming for global carbon neutrality in our operations by 2040. And we're not just talking the talk. We're walking the walk! With a 36.6% reduction in emissions since 2011, we're making real progress. Our goal? SBTi certification for our 2040 carbon neutrality target. Our climate-neutral initiatives: Boosting energy efficiency and embracing #renewables Transitioning to natural refrigerants Phasing out fossil heat Expanding #photovoltaic systems Electrifying our company car fleet Adopting zero-emission models in new store construction Community and collaboration are key, so we've joined the Düsseldorf Climate Pact as an official climate partner of the city. But our climate efforts don't stop at our doorstep. We've pledged to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 60% by 2030, and we're already at 33.5%. We've also committed to a 15% absolute reduction in Scope 3 CO2 emissions by 2030. Using scenario analysis to manage risks such as rising CO2 prices and resource scarcity, we’re well prepared for the future  Reducing waste is another priority. We're innovating, providing waste insights and guiding customers on responsible disposal.  Last but not least our water policy aims to reduce water consumption by 10% per square metre by 2030.  Join us on our sustainable journey!
