Making the Leap

We are a London-based youth charity that improves social mobility by increasing opportunities for young people between the ages of 11 and 30. Our mission is to transform the futures of disadvantaged young people in the UK by providing training to raise their aspirations and develop their skills, behaviours and attitudes to choose and succeed in a career. We work directly with young people from deprived backgrounds in London, and we aim to increase our reach and impact through replicating our model with partners nationwide. We use what we learn in our delivery operations to raise awareness of the importance of social mobility among UK businesses and encourage them to take action to improve it.

We offer a dynamic and engaging 3 week programme, held monthly which focuses on a number of essential skills needed for employment. We deliver a range of bespoke activities, based both at our training centre and partner corporate offices. Thereafter, our young people graduate from the programme with a stand-out CV, improved interview skills, clarity about career paths and top tips for job searching. The workshop additionally focuses on important soft skills required such as confidence, motivation and self-esteem.

We are currently offering online support in the form of workshops and masterclasses. The workshop will last 5 days and will focus on important elements of self development, soft skills, confidence building and support around applications among other guidance. During these testing times, we are encouraging you to learn and build upon your skills and use support networks around you to help and guide you.

After a graduation ceremony, we offer our young people tailored one to one support in addition to a screen and match process against a wide range of career opportunities. Making the Leap has entered its 27th year with an accumulation of outstanding partners such as PWC, Metro Bank, EY, Google, Ministry of Justice and many more who share opportunities with our young people.
