From beaches to cockpits - MATERI'ACT and Plastic Odyssey are combining sustainability and innovation to craft a sustainable interior
Our commitment to a cleaner planet takes a significant leap forward thanks to a collaborative effort between MATERI'ACT and Plastic Odyssey, a dedicated NGO fighting coastal plastic pollution. This partnership has yielded exciting results that were unveiled at the last Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2024.
During the event, MATERI'ACT showcased a revolutionary concept: a car door panel crafted from a deep blue, engineered material. This very special kind of plastic is derived from ocean bound plastics (OBP) collected by Plastic Odyssey, along with oyster shells. This innovation not only demonstrates their technical expertise but also embodies our unwavering dedication to sustainable design principles.
By incorporating OBP as a potential source of recycled materials, MATERI'ACT expands its existing portfolio of sustainable solutions, which already encompasses Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR), End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV), and Post-Industrial Recycled (PIR) materials.
This collaboration with Plastic Odyssey signifies a major step forward in the fight against plastic pollution and the creation of a more sustainable automotive future.
Together, we are transforming ocean waste into premium car interiors, one recycled plastic piece at a time.
