Under the Spotlight: Speakers on Stage at the Women@Dior & UNESCO 2024 Global Conference

At Dior, we are committed to empowering women.

On March 28th, Christian Dior Couture and UNESCO presented the Women@Dior & UNESCO 2024 Global Conference. Mentees and Mentors, leaders of LVMH, the House of Dior, and UNESCO, spoke alongside inspiring personalities and figures working for women’s rights and freedom in various fields, celebrating themes that are more essential than ever – education, equity, inclusion, and gender equality, priorities at the heart of the Women@Dior mentorship and education program, in partnership with UNESCO.

The ceremony opened with a speech by Delphine Arnault (President and CEO of Christian Dior Couture, and member of the LVMH Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee), setting the tone for a day of profound discussions. Chantal Gaemperle (Group Executive Vice President Human Resources & Synergies and member of the LVMH Executive Committee), Stefania Giannini (UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education), and Olivier Sastre (Deputy Managing Director in charge of Human Resources and Sustainable Development at Christian Dior Couture), shared their visions for women's emancipation.

Isabelle Faggianelli, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at Christian Dior Couture, and Borhene Chakroun, Director of Policies & Lifelong Learning Systems Division at UNESCO, illuminated the ambitions driving the multi-virtuous partnership between UNESCO and Dior. Marie-Céline Dupuy d'Angeac, President of Christian Dior Couture Europe, and Anne-Valérie Narcy, Director of the Haute Couture, Women’s Ready-to-Wear, Women’s Shoes and Baby Business Units, shared their invaluable advice for women seeking independence and success in their professional endeavors.

Distinguished speakers including Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Leymah Gbowee, addressed pressing societal challenges, while Gabriela Ramos, UNESCO's Assistant Director-General for Human and Social Sciences, and Caroline Lair, Founder of The Good AI and co-founder of Women in AI, explored the transformative potential of technology in addressing gender biases.

As the conference drew to a close, film producer Virginia Valsecchi spotlighted women's stories, underscoring the power of narrative in driving change. #LenaMahfouf, successful entrepreneur and content creator shed light on the evolving discourse surrounding mental health, particularly among young women.

A pivotal moment arrived as #MariaGraziaChiuri chaired the jury of the Dream For Change Project, where 5 teams of Mentees pitched their concrete projects to supporting the emancipation of young girls in their local communities.
