  Interview mit Steffi Heldberg

  Das Traineeprogramm Bertelsmann Future Leaders ist der ideale Karrierestart für alle, die kreativ und mit unternehmerischem Gespür die Zukunft des Medien-, Dienstleistungs- und Bildungsunternehmens mitgestalten wollen. Es umfasst drei inhaltliche Schwerpunkte – Data Science, Creative Management und Business – und bereitet dich darauf vor, eine Führungsrolle als Expert:in oder Manager:in zu übernehmen. Im Laufe von 12 oder 18 Monaten tauchst du als Trainee bei Bertelsmann alle drei bis vier Monate in einen der Geschäftsbereiche des Konzerns ein, zu denen unter anderem 300 Verlage, 56 Fernsehsender und ein Musiklabel gehören. Du bringst deine Ideen in die Entwicklung innovativer Geschäftsmodelle ein und arbeitest an Themen, die deinen Interessen und Stärken entsprechen. Auf deinem Weg unterstützt Bertelsmann dich mit individuellem Training und Karrierecoaching. Steffi Heldberg, bei Bertelsmann verantwortlich für die Betreuung des Future Leaders Traineeprogramms, beantwortet unsere Fragen zu Einzelheiten des Programms: Steffi, wie finde ich heraus, in welchem Bereich ich eingesetzt werden möchte? Dafür bieten wir vor Beginn des Traineeprogramms eine „Pitch Night“, in der verschiedene Unternehmensbereiche ihre Teams und Projekte vorstellen. Wir unterstützen dich anschließend gerne bei der Auswahl deiner Stationen und geben dir weitere Einblicke in die Möglichkeiten, die sich dir innerhalb des Konzerns bieten. Wann und wie startet das Traineeprogramm? Los geht es jeweils am 1. September, die neuen Trainees starten dann mit ein paar Onboarding-Tagen – dem Bootcamp – in Gütersloh. Dort lernt man die anderen Trainees, aber auch Bertelsmann besser kennen, bevor der Einsatz bei der ersten Station beginnt. Wie wahrscheinlich ist es, dass man eine Station im europäischen Ausland absolvieren kann? Grundsätzlich ermöglichen wir unseren Trainees gerne eine Station außerhalb Deutschlands, allerdings muss es natürlich auch ein passendes Projekt geben. Zudem müssen arbeitsrechtliche und steuerliche Aspekte im Einzelfall geprüft werden. Wie kann man sich das Rotationsverfahren vorstellen? Die Trainees wechseln alle drei bis vier Monate das Team und den Geschäftsbereich, um an möglichst vielen verschiedenen Projekten mitzuarbeiten. In den meisten Fällen ist damit auch ein Ortswechsel verbunden. Welche Möglichkeiten zur Weiterbildung und zum Networking bietet Bertelsmann während und nach dem Traineeprogramm? Wir führen mit den Trainees drei Trainingsmodule durch, die unterschiedliche Schwerpunkte haben. Natürlich gibt es auch das Programm der Bertelsmann University, das den Trainees zur Verfügung steht. Darüber hinaus versuchen wir auch, die Teilnahme an Veranstaltungen oder Konferenzen zu ermöglichen. Wie gestaltet sich der Austausch der Trainees untereinander? Im Verlauf des Traineeprogramms trifft man sich regelmäßig bei Trainings und Veranstaltungen, darüber hinaus stehen die Trainees aber häufig auch in privatem Austausch miteinander. Bekommt man als Future Leaders Trainee einen Buddy oder Mentoring? Ja, den Trainees steht jeweils ein erfahrener Mentor oder eine Mentorin zur Seite. Sie profitieren von ihrem Wissen und ihren Erfahrungen und erhalten wertvolles Feedback. Wie werden die Fortschritte der Trainees während des Programms gemessen und bewertet? Es gibt nach jeder Station ein Feedbackgespräch mit der jeweiligen Projektleitung. Was passiert nach den 12 bzw. 18 Monaten im Programm? Wie hoch war bislang der Anteil derjenigen, die im Anschluss an das Traineeprogramm bei Bertelsmann eingestiegen sind? Wir ermutigen unsere Trainees, bereits während des Programms Kontakte zu knüpfen und nach passenden Anschlusspositionen innerhalb des Konzerns zu schauen. Selbstverständlich unterstützen wir gegen Ende des Programms gerne bei Gesprächen. In der Vergangenheit haben sich etwa 90 Prozent der Trainees dazu entschieden, nach dem Abschluss des Programms bei Bertelsmann zu bleiben.   Meeting of top talents: Talent Meets Bertelsmann 2024

  For the 16th time, Bertelsmann's "Talent Meets Bertelsmann" (TMB) event has created a platform for young talents who want to explore their entry into professional life. More than 50 top students from all over Europe met at the end of June at the Group’s Representative Office "Unter den Linden". TMB, hosted by VOX presenter Amiaz Habtu, provided a wide range of insights into the world of Bertelsmann. The event offered discussions with high-ranking executives, workshops on the development of AI-supported business models and great opportunities for personal networking. But what makes this event so special? Participant Rod Mitecki puts it this way: "TMB is unlike any other recruiting event, because it is far from being just that. It's a networking platform, a workshop, a pitch competition, a career fair, a club night and so much more, in just three days." In seven workshops, the students developed business ideas on the topics of AI governance, content marketing, creator economy, sales, digital fitness, fintech and healthcare. The teams then presented the results of their intensive work to a jury of Bertelsmann executives. The "Healthcare" team was awarded first place for its ideas for the digital ecosystem of Afya, a leading medical education company in Brazil. The winning team can look forward to a five-day trip to Barcelona, where they will meet representatives of the Bertelsmann divisions based in Spain and get to know the Group from the inside during a visit to the offices of Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial. Sze Wai Chan was part of the "Healthcare" team and was delighted that, unlike traditional business case challenges, both the tasks and the presentation at TMB were very creative. "Our team worked hard to make the presentation engaging and entertaining," she says. "This was a very helpful exercise that can be transferred to other areas – good storytelling is key. I was impressed by the setting in which the presentations took place. It was an unforgettable experience to be on a stage reminiscent of a TV show, with professional camera work and a presenter." Second place went to the "Creator Economy" team, which looked at how to predict the next influencer bestseller for publishing house DK. The team members traveled to London to learn about Bertelsmann's UK businesses at BMG, Fremantle and DK. Rod Mitecki was also one of the winners. He found the support from the workshop leaders great and reports: "We were able to work on an exciting and relevant topic. Part of our solution will probably even be implemented, which gives us a special feeling of recognition and appreciation. We also had enough freedom to try out new things, learn and grow. That made TMB an exceptional event for me." The "Content Marketing" team dealt with the question of how generative AI can be used to improve marketing in the music business and was awarded third place for its work. The students from this team visited RTL in Cologne and BMG in Berlin. The after movie shows impressively that TMB 2024 was once again a complete success. You can watch it here.
