As part of the scheme, you’ll receive extensive on-the-job training in a role specifically designed for people who’re new to the world of work. IBM has three different entry-level pathways: software developer, consultant and technology sales associate. Let’s take a look at what each role involves.

Software development

Software engineers are at the forefront of innovation at IBM, from full stack and front end developers to DevOps and test engineers. You’ll be able to develop in your role with clear progression opportunities and work on varied and interesting projects such as breathing new life into older technologies by moving them over to a cloud-based interface or creating software to help pilots fly more safely. Communication, problem-solving and creative skills are paramount for this pathway.

Consulting

Here, you’ll work in a dynamic team and learn all the skills needed to help businesses find tailored solutions to a variety of challenges. Consultants have a strong interest in tech and excellent communication skills. They specialise in software, SAP, strategy, industry, business transformation and salesforce at IBM.

Technology sales

This is all about using your technical skills to teach clients how to get the most out of IBM’s solutions. There’s a strong focus on teamwork, nurturing client relationships and solving problems. You’ll get to specialise in the tech that interests you most and hone your communication skills. You’ll need to be innovative, creative and people-focused as well as have a keen interest in tech.
