KMPG apprenticeships – your first step on the career ladder
Apprenticeships are tailor-made for career starters and an excellent way to continue your education while also getting on the career ladder. KPMG has been operating for over 150 years and is now present in 143 countries. With more than 265,000 employees worldwide, it’s safe to say KPMG knows a thing or two about training and career development!
What does KPMG do?
KPMG is one of the “Big 4” accountancy and audit firms and provides professional services to its clients, who are companies – some of them global household names – from a range of sectors including retail, media, technology and sport. Working at KPMG means working with some truly interesting and diverse businesses at the heart of their operations.
What does a KPMG apprenticeship involve?
Regardless of which business area you do your apprenticeship in, they all have a few things in common. From professional certifications and diplomas to full degrees, formal study is a big part of your apprenticeship at KPMG. Aside from on-the-job training and real-life work experience, you’ll also study with an external training provider to earn qualifications that will carry your career to new heights (all while receiving a generous salary!).
Everyone at KPMG, including apprentices, has a flexible working set-up: working from home, the office and visiting clients at their places of business. This allows you to mix things up a bit so work is never monotonous. You’ll also work on real client projects from the very start as part of a supportive and inspiring team of experienced professionals and other apprentices. This means you’ll never be alone on your journey.
What’s it like to work at KPMG?
The working culture at KPMG is focused on wellbeing, diversity and community; your individuality is taken into account and there are many opportunities to make friends and have fun at work through volunteer schemes and social networks. There’s also a range of employee perks on offer too: from health and wellbeing support initiatives to a daily lunch allowance and lifestyle discounts.
What apprenticeships can you do?
KPMG is split into six main business areas, all of which offer their own specialised apprenticeship programmes (except Deal Advisory):
- Deal Advisory (no apprenticeship)
- Audit – here you’ll learn how to audit company accounts across a broad range of sectors.
- Consulting – this is all about helping companies flourish and preparing them for the future.
- Tax & Law – from providing legal advice to international tax and global mobility, this is an extremely diverse area with lots of opportunities to specialise.
- Technology & Engineering – DevOps, cyber, software development and cloud services: apprenticeships in tech and engineering at KPMG allow you to gain experience across all specialisms, as well as learning programming languages like C# and Python.
- KPMG Business Services – customer enquiries, reporting and administrative support: this is the engine that drives KPMG, where you’ll learn transferable, life-long professional skills.
